San Miguel de Allende Elopement | Karen + David

Karen and David had never been to San Miguel de Allende before, but they have heard a lot about it and saw many photos and knew it was the destination for your elopement! They both love to travel and wanted to experience Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) so they decided to elope during this festive time in San Miguel.

Part of my planning service for Karen and David was helping them find a venue that fit their vision which was an elopement ceremony in a traditional, colonial Mexican home that reflects the rich colors and architecture of historic San Miguel de Allende. I immediately knew exactly the house for them and when I shared it with them, they agreed!

The day before their celebration, I met up with Karen and David at the house to finalize the details for the next day.

After our meeting, I was headed to the mercado to purchase the flowers for Karen’s bouquet. I asked them if they were interested in joining me and they did! We had so much fun selecting the flowers and greenery together. We then went back to their casa and built the bouquet together. I love it when couples want to be involved in this activity. It’s extra special!

Karen and David decided they did not want an officiant and they just wanted to share the vows they wrote with each other. Karen embellished her bouquet with a locket with photos which was extra special. After they said I DO, they had their first dance which was so wonderful. They laughed, held each other and celebrated their love.

We spent some time taking photos around the house as there were so many amazing spots to do so! Afterwards, we headed out onto the cobblestone streets of San Miguel taking photos. We were lucky to run into some Mojigangas for a few photos. We also ran into the donkey with its colorful baskets of flowers for a few more photos.

We ended our session in the Jardin Allende at sunset and they headed off for a romantic rooftop dinner.

It was a magical day for an amazing couple and it was my honor to be their elopement planner and photographer!
